Wakeboards and Wakeboard Bindings for the Cottage

Wakeboarding

Liquid Force Wakeboards - Wakeboarding is an awesome sport that anyone can love if they get off one the right foot. Learning to wakeboard is a sport that anyone with access to a lake, as well as a boat, can do and it's enjoyable for your friends too.

Just heed these steps and you’ll be having good times wakeboarding before you know it.

1. Buy A Wakeboard

Wakeboarding - The most important part. If you are a beginner or you want to get a board that your friends can use to try wakeboarding, you don’t want to get a high-end wakeboard. Very advanced wakeboards will be too difficult to control and you will fall more than you ride! Wakeboards such as the Liquid Force Trip Wakeboard are a super choice.

Ask for one that has a continuous rocker and do not get the more advanced 3-stage rocker.

For board size, you want to pick a board the matches your weight. Here are the lengths we recommend:

Weight: 90-160 Ibs.

Size: 134 cm

Weight: 160-200 Ibs.

Size: 138 cm

Weight: 200 Ibs.

Length: 142 cm or longer

2. Wakeboard Bindings

For wakeboard bindings there are open-toe and closed-toe. Beginners should get an open toe binding, as will people that want a binding that can fit a few different foot sizes.

Chose the Binding that matches your shoe size. For bindings that are listed as small, medium, large or x-large, you should try them on to ensure you get the right fit.

3. The One-Size-Fits-All Wakeboard

If you want a wakeboard package that you and several family members can use, or that you can leave at your cottage for anyone to use, we suggest getting a mid-sized board, such as a 138 and a 9/10 binding. Just remember that if someone has smaller feet, they should consider passing rather than risk being injured. You can also get two sets of bindings .

4. Making your Boat Wakeboard Friendly

Your boat has to be able to pull someone behind it on a wakeboard at about 16-25 mph. If you have an aluminum fishing boat with a 20hp motor, that won’t cut it!

You also need a boat that throws a big wake and you want a connector on the back of the boat to attach a tow rope to.

5. Wakeboard Rope and Handle vs. Ski Rope

You need a wakeboard rope & handle. These aren't very expensive, so I suggest you get one. A ski rope will stretch, so you don't want to use a ski rope. The good rope will last you a lifetime, so it's smart to pay for a good one that is tangle-proof and has a comfortable grip.
